Apprehension

In The Blue Book on Information Age Inquiry, Instruction and Literacy, Callison describes Carol Kuhlthau's library research process.  I enjoyed reading about how she connected the stages of research to feelings.  The emotions connected with this stage include apprehension and uncertainty.

This is definitely how I'm feeling because I'm supposed to have my topic narrowed.  Now that I've actually started blogging, I still am wondering if I've made the right choice about my topic.  I've gone from wanting to research Irish history to the Oregon Trail...Now I'm second guessing myself again.  Kind of feeling a little behind but that's okay. =)

  1. I hear you on the apprehension aspect. I'm definitely feeling the same way about my topic. I'm worried that I won't be able to appropriately narrow it. The good news is that if you keep following the information search process, Kuhlthau says you should feel optimism and a confidence in your ability to complete the task during the "forming focus" stage. I'm looking forward to that feeling. Good luck!
