Wondering #1

Wondering

Finding a purpose: Why am I working on this project?

1) It is required

2) I am interested in the topic

Oh yeah…And what was my topic again. I’ve been putting off choosing. Well, here’s what I did. I took my four topics of interest: Tudor dynasty, gay rights, American expansion, and censorship. I did some basic Internet searching and rated my level of interest in my search. I was definitely not excited at all when I was researching the Oregon Trail. The Tudor dynasty was fun to read about, but I was pretty much reviewing things I already knew. I did some preliminary searching on censorship, and was excited to read some of the results.

So this morning, I’m ready to make a decision. I started to work out my basic ideas about each topic…

1) Tudor dynasty: I am opposed to their acts of cruelty. I wonder why Anne Boleyn married Henry VIII. I like learning about Elizabeth I. I wonder why Elizabeth never married.

2) Gay rights: I am in favor of equal rights for GLBTs. I wonder which states offer more rights. I wish I could convince people (my parents) that I’m not a freak.

3) Oregon trail: I wonder why people made the journey. I like learning about the different landmarks that were along the way. I like learning about the pioneers’ methods of transportation.

4) Censorship: I wonder why this happens. What are people’s motivations? I am in favor of intellectual freedom.

Prior knowledge: I’ve connected my prior knowledge for all of these. I need to choose something!
