Kuhlthau's Information Search Process...yeah, I really need to get to the selection part. Honestly, a week ago, I had decided to research the Oregon Trail. Then I read about the research models and started to ask myself Why? Then I started to consider all the options out there. I even thought of another option that interests me. I'm getting close to my final selection.
TASK: I need to decide on a topic
THOUGHTS: Kuhlthau suggests to think about my personal interests. I've added a fourth topic to my considerations: Censorship in libraries
Tudor Dynasty: I'm interested in it because I visited London this summer and learned a lot about King Henry VII and his son Henry VIII. I want to learn more about their lives and motivations.
Gay Rights: I'm interested in gay rights because, as a gay American, I feel I need to know more about what rights I have in certain states and discrimination gay people have encountered and currently experience.
Oregon Trail: I've driven out west in a car. But what would the journey be like on foot or on wagon?
Censorship in libraries: In one of my classes, we discussed at length intellectual freedom. Our school librarian currently censors books. The Twilight books, for example, are not in our school library because our librarian doesn't like vampires. =)
Now, I'm feeling a little behind, but I'm going to do this right...
FEELINGS: I'm definitely anxious and confused.
ACTIONS: I'm going to do a little more pre-searching.
